Description

The MAX4466 Microphone Preamplifier Module is a cutting-edge tool that elevates audio recording and amplification with its high-gain capability, providing crystal-clear and noise-free sound.  The output can feed an amplifier module to drive speakers or can feed an ADC input on an MCU for sampling the waveform.

This module comes with an Adjustable Gain Module, fully assembled and tested, featuring a 20-20KHz electret microphone soldered onto the board. The module utilizes the Maxim MAX4466 preamplifier IC, microphone, support resistors, and capacitors to create a complete preamplifier assembly.
Ferrites are used on both the Vcc and ground leads to reduce power supply noise. When using an MCU, using the quietest power supply available in the 2.4V – 5.5V range is best. On an Arduino, this is typically the 3.3V power supply. The output is DC coupled. When the output signal is at rest, it will be at Vcc/2. If Vcc is 5V, the output will be 2.5V. If the output needs to be AC coupled, a 100uF capacitor can be connected between the output pin and the input of the circuit it is driving.

With a compact design and easy integration, this preamplifier ensures seamless installation and delivers exceptional performance in any recording environment. Whether you’re a music producer, podcaster, or sound engineer, the MAX4466 is the key to capturing every nuance and detail with precision and clarity.

Pin Connection

  • OUT = Output typically connects to the analog input of the MCU or another analog input device or circuit.
  • VCC = connects to 2.4V – 5.5V
  • GND = connects to ground
