Description
The Raspberry Pi Zero W introduces a significant upgrade with the inclusion of built-in Wi-Fi the “W” stands for Wi-Fi. This enhancement, made possible by the BCM43143 Wi-Fi chip, eliminates the need for external communication peripherals like an Ethernet cable or dongle. Similar to the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, the Pi Zero W also features Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Despite these additions, it maintains a nearly identical form factor, connections, and mounting holes as the Pi Zero v1.3, allowing the use of the same accessories minus the Wi-Fi-specific ones. The Pi Zero W retains key features such as a micro SD card slot, mini HDMI port, two micro USB ports (one for power, one for USB), 512MB of RAM, and a single-core 1 GHz processor chip, all packed into the slimmest form factor in the Raspberry Pi catalog. It preserves the functionality of the original Pi Zero while enhancing connectivity with 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN and Bluetooth 4.1.
