Description
The Ethernet Shield W5100 is an expansion board designed to provide Ethernet connectivity to Arduino and compatible microcontroller-based projects. It uses the Wiznet W5100 chip. The Wiznet W5100 includes an IP stack that supports both TCP and UDP. Up to four simultaneous socket connections are supported by the Ethernet W5100 Shield Network Extension Board with Micro SD Card Slot.
The shield connects easily to an Arduino board using the standard Arduino Uno R3 or Arduino Mega pin layout. It uses the SPI interface for fast and reliable data transfer between the microcontroller and the Ethernet network. With support for various network protocols such as TCP, UDP, IP, ARP, ICMP, and IGMP, the W5100 chip is compatible with a wide range of applications, enabling bidirectional communication.
The most recent edition of the board exposes the 1.0 pinout on revision 3 of the Arduino UNO board. This Ethernet shield links the UNO R3 board to the internet in seconds. Simply put this module into your Arduino board, link it to your network with an RJ45 connection (not included), and follow simple instructions to begin managing your environment via the internet. You can link your Arduino UNO 328 or MEGA 2650 1280 to a network or the internet and retrieve or store files on a microSD card.
Featuring an RJ45 Ethernet port, the Ethernet Shield W5100 allows for a stable and secure wired connection to Ethernet networks. There is an integrated micro-SD card slot for storing files to be served via the web. It works with Uno and Mega (using the Ethernet library). The SD Library provides access to the in-built microSD card reader. When using this library, SS is connected to Pin 4. The shield’s original model included a full-size SD card slot, which is no longer supported.
