Description
The Microchip Technology Inc. MCP3204/3208 devices are 12-bit analog-to-digital converters with features including ±1 LSB max differential nonlinearity (DNL) and ±1 LSB max or ±2 LSB max integral nonlinearity (INL). The MCP3204 has 4 input channels, configurable as single-ended or pseudo-differential pairs, while the MCP3208 has 8 input channels. Both devices incorporate on-chip sample and hold, operate through an SPI serial interface, and have a single supply range of 2.7V to 5.5V. With a maximum sampling rate of 100 ksps (at VDD = 5V) and 50 ksps (at VDD = 2.7V), these ADCs are suitable for applications like sensor interfaces, process control, and data acquisition. The devices exhibit low power consumption, ranging from 500 nA typical standby current to 400 µA max active current at 5V and are designed for an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. They are available in various package options, including PDIP, SOIC, and TSSOP.
