Description
The L78M series consists of versatile three-terminal positive voltage regulators, available in TO-220, TO-220FP, DPAK, and IPAK packages, offering a range of fixed output voltages suitable for diverse applications. These regulators facilitate local on-card regulation, addressing distribution challenges associated with single-point regulation. Each type incorporates essential protections like internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe area protection, ensuring durability even under extreme conditions. When adequately heatsinked, they can deliver over 0.5 A of output current. Additionally, while primarily intended as fixed voltage regulators, they can be configured for adjustable output voltages and currents by employing external components.
