MAX7219 LED Display Driver IC – SMD Package

Description

The MAX7219/MAX7221 are compact display drivers for interfacing microprocessors with 7-segment numeric LED displays (up to 8 digits), bar-graph displays, or 64 individual LEDs. They feature a BCD code-B decoder, multiplexing, segment and digit drivers, and 8×8 static RAM. A single external resistor sets the segment current for all LEDs. The MAX7221 is compatible with various serial interfaces, has limited segment drivers for EMI reduction, and offers individual digit addressing and updating without rewriting the entire display. Other features include low-power shutdown, brightness control, scan-limit adjustment, and a test mode. These devices are designed for common-cathode LED displays and come in 24-pin DIP and SO packages.
