Description

The MAX6675 Thermocouple Temperature Module is a compact and accurate electronic component that converts the analog signal from a K-type thermocouple into a digital temperature reading. It provides precise temperature measurements with a 12-bit resolution from 0°C to 1024°C (sensor max temperature of 450°C).

The module features screw terminals for easy connection to the thermocouple’s spade connectors and a 5-pin standard 0.1″ header for interfacing with microcontrollers like Arduino development boards. The K-type thermocouple sensor has a 4.5mm diameter, a 6mm threaded mounting bolt, and a total length of approximately 50cm. It interfaces with microcontrollers via a 3-wire SPI interface and is suitable for various applications requiring reliable and precise temperature data.

The module uses the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) protocol for communication with microcontrollers or other devices, and its quick conversion rate allows for responsive temperature monitoring. With its wide temperature range and compatibility with K-type thermocouples, the MAX6675 module finds applications in industrial process monitoring, temperature controllers, heating and cooling systems, laboratory instruments, home automation, and temperature data logging projects. Its simplicity, reliability, and precision make it an essential tool for various temperature measurement and control applications.

  • GND = Connect to system ground.  This ground needs to be in common with the MCU.
  • VCC =   Connect to 3.0 – 5.5V. It is typically connected to MCU operating power.
  • SCK =   Serial Clock Input.  Connect to any digital pin on MCU.
  • CS =      Chip Select.  Connect to any digital pin on MCU.
  • SO =     Serial Data Output.  Connect to any digital pin on MCU.
