CH340G USB to Serial Converter IC

Description

The CH340 is a USB conversion chip conforming to USB Specification Version 2.0, requiring only an external crystal and capacitance for operation. It emulates a standard serial interface, enabling upgrades or additional serial ports via USB and ensuring compatibility with serial application programs on Windows operating systems.

The chip offers a hardware full duplex serial interface with a transceiver buffer, supporting a wide range of communication baud rates from 50bps to 2Mbps. Additionally, it supports common MODEM liaison signals like RTS, DTR, DCD, RI, DSR, and CTS. Interface expansion is possible by adding level converter equipment, and extending support to RS232, RS485, RS422, and other interfaces.

It also supports IrDA criterion SIR infrared communication with baud rates ranging from 2400bps to 115200bps. While primarily operating at the application layer due to USB-to-serial interface conversion, it is software-compatible with CH341, utilizing CH341 drivers directly. The CH340 is versatile, accommodating both 5V and 3.3V source voltages, and is packaged in SSOP-20 without lead, aligning with RoHS compliance standards.
